說(shuō)明文的段落中，大部分為總分結(jié)構(gòu)，即段落的第一句或前兩句為中心句，其后的內(nèi)容就是一些細(xì)節(jié)、例子或者數(shù)據(jù)分析，這些內(nèi)容目的是為了支持開(kāi)頭的主題。這些段落的中心句通常是一個(gè)具有概括性語(yǔ)氣的陳述句，而后的內(nèi)容包含細(xì)節(jié)描述、數(shù)據(jù)和例子，也比較容易被識(shí)別出來(lái)。

雅思閱讀高分原則：認(rèn)識(shí)因果段落

因果段落具有明顯的連接詞來(lái)表示其中的關(guān)系，例如therefore, as a result, because, thus, hence等。對(duì)于這樣的段落，通常會(huì)考查T/F/NG判斷題、多選題或填空題。例如劍五-4 THE EFFECTS OF LIGHT ON PLANT AND ANIMAL SPECIES第三段：Breeding seasons in animals such as birds have evolved to occupy the part of the year in which offspring have the greatest chances……Thus many temperate-zone birds use the in creasing day lengths……

轉(zhuǎn)折段落中的考點(diǎn)是雅思閱讀考試中的一類經(jīng)典考點(diǎn)，提醒考生們應(yīng)該對(duì)其保持高度的警覺(jué)。一旦在skimming過(guò)程中，或者做題找答案的過(guò)程中看到however/but等表示轉(zhuǎn)折的連接詞，就要清楚轉(zhuǎn)折的地方一定會(huì)設(shè)置考點(diǎn)，通常為T/F/NG、多選題、HEADING。遇到轉(zhuǎn)折段落，那么該段的中心會(huì)體現(xiàn)在however /but的后面，因此句子間的意思就比較明顯了：however/but前的句子內(nèi)容為前提條件、之前的預(yù)測(cè)或研究結(jié)果等;而連接詞后面的則是與前文不一致的地方，或者說(shuō)是更有價(jià)值的地方。在轉(zhuǎn)折段中重要的信息都存在于轉(zhuǎn)折詞后面的內(nèi)容。

遞進(jìn)段落也常伴隨表示遞進(jìn)關(guān)系的連接詞，如moreover/furthermore等，也有的段中沒(méi)有連接詞，但是通過(guò)意思能判斷出段落后半部分的內(nèi)容更加重要。遞進(jìn)的內(nèi)容通常是對(duì)之前提到內(nèi)容的補(bǔ)充，也就是說(shuō)，遞進(jìn)前后的內(nèi)容屬于一個(gè)大類，是并列的內(nèi)容。
