１、 定語從句有時可以譯為并列分句，主要是指非限制性的定語從句：
１） Nearly everyone knows the story of ”the dog that worried the cat that caught the rat that ate the grain that lay in the house that Mr. Bubble built.”
幾乎人人都知道這個故事：“冒泡先生蓋了房，房里堆了糧，耗子把糧食吃光，貓把耗子抓傷，狗又把貓逼上房。”
２） Thinking that you know when in fact you don’t is a fatal mistake to which we are all prone.
自認為知道而實際上并不知道，這是一個致命的弱點，我們都容易犯這種錯誤。
２、 倒譯法：
１） Yet he failed somehow, in spite of a mediocrity, which ought to have insured any man a success
按理說，他這樣的庸才，正該發(fā)跡才是，可是不知怎么，只是不得意。
２） You have given Fieldstone, who dislikes me anyhow, the chance he was waiting for.
費爾德斯丁反正就不喜歡我，你給他的機會正是他求之不得的。
３、 譯為相當于英語中的狀語從句一樣的譯法：
１） How can anyone hope to be a qualified teacher, who doesn’t know what the students are thinking and demanding?
一個教師如果不知道他的學生在想什么，需要什么，怎能指望成為一個合格的教師呢？
（譯為條件狀語從句）
２） The thief, who was about to escape, was caught by the policemen.
小偷正要逃跑時，被警察抓住了。
（當作時間狀語從句來處理）
４、 有時可譯為相當于漢語中的謂語結(jié)構(gòu)或賓語結(jié)構(gòu)：
１） In recent years an interesting fact has been brought to public attention: As educational levels, salaries, and the cost of living have increased, more and more people are now having fewer and fewer children to the point where schools in many cities have to close down.
最近幾年一個有趣的情況引起人們的注意：隨著教育水平、工資和生活消費的提高，越來越多的人不想多生孩子，已經(jīng)到了許多城市的學校不得不關(guān)門的地步。

２） She knew the sequestered spots where the hens laid their eggs.
她知道母雞在什么隱蔽的角落里下蛋。

３） He had a lot of eggs to sell, which would have made he beloved anywhere.
他有許多金蛋蛋要賣，足以使他到處受到歡迎的。

５、 譯成獨立句子：
１） There was another man who seemed to have answers, and that was Mr. Bubble.
另外一個人似乎胸有成竹，那就是冒泡先生。
