　　feel upset 表示“心煩意亂、“很苦惱”。

　　could do nothing可以補(bǔ)全為 could do nothing about it，即關(guān)于此事他什么忙也幫不上。do為完全動(dòng)詞，表示“做”、“干”。do類似的用法還有：

　?。?）days可以指“時(shí)期”、“時(shí)代”，如 in his boyhood days（在他的童年時(shí)代）。these days指“現(xiàn)今”。

　　well作為感嘆詞可以表達(dá)多種感情，如驚訝、讓步等，在這里表示松了一口氣（因?yàn)殄X沒(méi)丟）。
